- How did the resume I wrote help you in your job search or career goals?
- Amanda’s resume was extremely helpful for many reasons. It helped me greatly in my job search in the sense that I was given an interview with a company I have been applying to for years. I had applied to this institution many times, and each time, I was not selected for an interview. This time, after utilizing Amanda’s resume services, I was selected for both a first-round and second-round interview. I may not have been selected for the position, but I made more progress than I have all along. The resume emphasized my career goals, skills, and accomplishments in ways it had not done previously.
- Did the resume reflect your skills and experience accurately and effectively? Why or why not?
- Yes, absolutely! I greatly appreciated that Amanda listed in bold, bracketed format, key components to the job that will stick out to potential employers. In my case, that is college & career advising, student records management systems, and technology proficiency. My work and education experience were listed and described accurately and concisely, using key references, ensuring I have had the appropriate exposure and understanding of academic advising and higher education processes.
- What was your impression of the final resume compared to what you had before?
- My impression of the final resume was, “Wow, look at this!” It was easy to read and follow, excellent formatting, professional, and I really appreciated the use of bold and colored text, as I felt this would stick out more to employers when first opening the PDF. I believe the resume I had previously could be easy to get lost in with same same-sized fonts, lack of colored text, etc.
- Would you recommend my services to others? Why or why not?
- I sure would, and I already have mentioned Amanda’s skills to some friends! Resume building can be stressful and easily overwhelming. Amanda is passionate about her work and will be extremely helpful to anyone who is looking for help building these important documents we need to have on hand at all times. She is careful and precise with the information given to her and uses it appropriately and accurately to help build you a resume that will get you noticed. Amanda is thorough, gracious, thoughtful, and authentic when it comes to her work, and I have full confidence that she will help many people as she moves forward with these career goals and aspirations. I have never felt confident with the resumes I have made for myself, and I am wildly impressed with Amanda’s incredible help with this process/document.
- Is there anything specific I did that made the experience valuable to you?
- Yes, all of it, but especially the draft/example cover letter. I think the only thing more stressful and overwhelming than building a new resume is writing a cover letter. Cover letters are so important to have now, especially in education, as they are always a required document for job applications. It can be easy to write too little or too much, and having this example to follow was extremely helpful in ensuring I provided the necessary and appropriate information to potential employers. This was a perfect addition on top of having the resume. Applying for jobs is stressful enough as is, but struggling to make sure your resume is professional and accurate is an added stressor no one needs during this process. Receiving Amanda’s help with updating my resume and cover letter took a huge weight off my shoulders and made me feel so much more positive and prepared for submitting job applications.
